The bramble shark is a very interesting and elusive fellow! Sharks have a sandpaper-like texture due to being covered in dermal denticles --flexible, collagenous tooth-like scales that reduce water resistance-- and the bramble shark is no different. Only this species takes it to the EXTREME and has protruding thorn-like denticles scattered all over its flabby, slimy body.
My interpretation is highly exaggerated, but after I read about it I kind of envisioned it almost like a Pokemon, haha.
